Big dreams for little movers

Lil Tykes Gymnastics is Joey’s vision for a warm, boutique gymnastics space built specifically for children from crawling age through 6.

How the idea started

Joey’s love for gymnastics started at age 7, and he began teaching at fifteen and a half. Over the years, he coached at gymnasiums, taught tumbling in dance studios, and worked in recreational centers.

When the pandemic shut things down, Joey was laid off from coaching and became a nanny, or “manny,” for twins who were 11 months old when he started. That experience helped shape the idea for a gymnastics facility focused on very young children.

Why little learners

Many gymnastics facilities are designed around competitive programs and large warehouse spaces. Preschool classes may exist there, but they are rarely the main focus.

Lil Tykes is being built as a smaller, developmentally appropriate place where little ones can build fine and gross motor skills, confidence, discipline, and joy through movement.

Values

What guides every decision

Safety first

Age-appropriate progressions, routine cleaning, close supervision, and a calm coaching tone create physical and emotional safety so children build confidence without pressure or comparison.

Visible progress

Structured class flow, age-specific stations, and milestone moments help parents clearly understand growth over time.

Recreational by design

Every child receives the same coaching attention and encouragement without team tryout pressure, ability comparisons, or competitive-track expectations.
